About the Project

Literature and its Borders. Baltic Ring III

The project "Literature and its Borders. Baltic Ring III" is carried out from October 2006 till September 2007. It is financed by the programme Culture 2000 and the project leader and administrator is Estonian Writers' Union.
The purpose of the Baltic Ring projects is to develop co-operation among writers and actors working in the field of literature through seminars, workshops, exchange of writers and Internet networking. The projects bring together a variety of different literary actors from the northernmost corner of Europe. The partners vary from promoters of reading and writing, literary centres, research institutes, publishers, writers’ professional bodies to public organisations formulating regional and cultural policy. Geographically it covers a wide area reaching from the South Baltic Sea Region (Germany) via the Baltic States and Finland all the way up to the North in the Barents Sea Region. 
The first year of Baltic Ring project took place Oct 2001 - Sep 2002. The second follow-up project, "Baltic Ring - New Perspectives of Co-operation", was implemented between 1. Sep 2003 - 31. Aug 2004. The web-page of the two first Baltic Ring projects is here: http://www.balticring.org
The third Baltic Ring project "Literature and its Borders. Baltic Ring III" started on 1st October 2006 and is implemented till 30 September 2007. The project leader is Estonian Writers' Union.
All three Baltic Ring projects are financed by the programme Culture 2000.
